My Story

This is LUCY. She is available for private adoption. She is a 14 month old Border Collie /Boxer puppy . She has been spayed and is up to date with all her vaccinations. She weighs approximately 60 lbs. LUCY is a very active and enthusiastic puppy. She loves her morning romps through the ravine and could fetch a stick endlessly, but even off leash… she stays with us. She is very bright and we have trained her to play “find it” with toys and treats which she really enjoys. She loves people and new friends always comment on how friendly she is. She became very easy to train once WE got the hang of it. She now sits and waits to greet new friends and welcome us home and has good recall. She seems to thrive with training and exercise and we have been told she would probably excel at Agility Sports. She loves to play with other dogs. She has an extra walk with a dog walker and other dogs every day and LOVES it. We love LUCY very much… But we have three busy teenagers and we both work and FOR US … it has become too stressful ensuring Lucy gets the attention and exercise she needs. We have never owned a dog before and did not expect to have to hire a dog walker to help us and it ‘s not something we can continue to manage. If our situation was different… we wouldn’t think of giving her up. We are hoping to see Lucy with an owner who can make the time for her. She needs two good long romps everyday, off leash, and chasing a stick. She loves to run run run but can get anxious in an small enclosed dog park when there are a lot of dogs. She prefers hiking thru the ravine or a dog park like the one at Sherwood Park in Toronto . She seems to have issues with smaller poodle mixes and can get aggressive with them if not distracted with a stick or ball.. Ideally, she would be with someone who is dog savvy and believes in positive reinforcement. Lucy is very food motivated so we have treat trained her. She loves all people but small children (and our two cats) get intimidated by her enthusiasm and very waggy tail. All in all Lucy is a really great dog …just too much dog for us. If you are considering adopting a dog, please come and meet LUCY. We guarantee she’ll love you! If you are interested in Lucy, please email us and we'll put you in touch with the rescue that is overseeing her placement
