My Story

Lucy / F / 2Y / 45lbs / Chow mix / Fostered in Wiarton Lucy is affectionate, energetic, smart and happy! She loves being with her people, going on walks, toys and chews. Her fosters say their favourite things about her are "her little tail wag when she is getting pats and she is always happy to see us. She has a good energy level - always happy to go for a walk /adventure but also happy to chill". She can be fearful around things outdoors - scared by some dogs, loud noises, large items (eg mailbox) but she has overcome it with encouragement and has already made so much progress. She is independent and curious to explore - both indoors and outdoors. She is a quick learner - around putting the harness on (has to step in with both feet) and sitting. She is very quiet and rarely barks. She is good in cars and is good when having baths - no stress getting wet or getting washed. Lucy is house trained and is working on crate training. She walks well on leash and doesn't pull much. He is reactive to other dogs and will pull and bark. She is showing progress though with training. She is trusted in a dog proof room when left alone and has been left for up to 5 hours and had no issues. She hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety. She does guard her food from other dogs (not from people) so should be fed in a separate area. She is high energy and is currently getting 1hr walk a day plus playtime. Lucy is friendly when meeting new people and loves getting head scratches. She is selective with dogs and has gotten along with some but has enjoyed the company of others. She has met a few cats with no issues. She would be fine with kids 14+. She is looking for an active family who will continue to work on her training. A family with breed experience. She would be a great hiking companion. If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please complete an adoption application on our website. Her adoption fee is $500.
