My Story

I LOVE LUCY! Meet Lucy, a 5 month old Newfoundland Poodle Mix who weighs 40 pounds and is full of love. We know Lucy's parents were a Poodle and Newfoundland, with Lucy possibly reaching large dog (61-100 pounds) status when she's all grown up. She has big paws and a certain puppy clumsiness that is adorable. Lucy is very friendly, smart, good natured, loving and adaptable. She enjoys humans of every age and likes to play with children. She could be known as a gentle giant. Lucy is housebroken, as long as you wake up once to let her out during the night, and let her outside every few hours in the daytime. She is crate trained, which is used mainly when she is left alone, or if she goes into one of her short chewing episodes. Lucy is fostered with 6 various size dogs, and loves her family. A future adopter might consider that helpful since Lucy loves company. She does love and follow her humans. Lucy is learning how to properly walk on a leash and loves the outdoors. A physically fenced yard is recommended. Lucy is very curly and is low shedding, so trips to the groomer will be necessary as she grows. Lucy will make a great family dog, and if she sounds like the right fit for you, apply to adopt her today! Lucy is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH, and her adoption fee is $450. Lucy is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
