Lucky Parks

Lucky Parks is approximately 6 months old in these pictures taken April 17, 2008. The foster mom's father works for the Springdale parks department and this morning (Monday) brought them another puppy that had been at one of the parks since Friday. Friday the park was really busy and he thought she belonged to someone but she was still there, sitting next to the same building early today before anyone was there except the walkers. Usually he calls the city shelter to pick up the stray dogs but he said he couldn't send her to Springdale knowing its a kill shelter and she is just a puppy. She didn't have the heart to turn her down or my father- after all we always have room for one more baby in need.

Lucky Parks is a sweet girl, and she is doing fine in the back yard with the other puppies and dogs. She is fairly thin and was very hungry when she arrived but seems to be in good shape otherwise. Lucky will be about 60 pounds or so I think as an adult and tall. She has long legs like some hounds but her face looks labish/boxerish. We found out that she plays fetch and just loves to play and romp with the other dogs. She is very gentle with the younger pups.

She is such a sweet girl. Loves to follow us around the yard and wants to sit on our lap when we sit down. She loves to play with the other puppies and already plays fetch really well. Lucky brings back the ball almost every time- right to your hand. She gets to be inside a few hours at a time and so far no accidents. She is such a good girl.

Lucky Parks is doing so good. She is learning to walk on a leash and she comes when called. She still needs more practice housebreaking. Parks loves her squeaky toys and plays fetch all the time. She is working on learning catch but the ball usually hits her in the nose then she picks it up. Parks loves to be right by our side anywhere we go, and is always excited to do new things. She wants to be active. So she would be perfect for someone who likes to go hiking. She also enjoys riding in the car. Parks is so much fun.
