My Story: I'm Lucky, a big 80# Flat coated Retriever! That is the breed my owner said I am, but CCHS thinks I could also be a golden retriever / black lab. Either way I have a super disposition like all breeds are known for & am such a handsome guy! I am a big boy, but a big puppy at heart who ALWAYS has a smile on my face! I love everyone I meet from kids to strangers, and love to give everyone kisses too! My family surrendered me since they were an elderly couple -- they physically they could not provide the exercise for me I needed....nor could they handle a large dog anymore. They loved me a lot in the 2 yrs (they owned me since a puppy) and even took me to dog school as a puppy. I will admit I could be a handful for a child on a walk due to my size alone, but when I have my choker collar on, I know it's time to work and I listen super! And I may be 2 years old on paper, but boy do I feel like a puppy at heart! I'm just such a happy, outgoing, super lovable guy who loves to play, loves to leap into the air (not on you!) and just run around like a pup would! I'm by no means a hyper dog at all, but a fun, active dog you could take jogging, hiking, camping and maybe swimming!

I am housebroken and CRAVE attention & tummy rubs! I would even sit on your lap if you let me! I am a big hairy couch potato, so I very much need to find a home that doesn't mind black hair all over, and who also doesn't mind giving up couch space too! I do enjoy playing tug of war very much, plus I will fetch too, and drop the ball nicely. I do now commands like "sit, paw, down, come, walk, ride, treat, outside & heel". I absolutely love to take walks & go for car rides, plus I'm about as safe of a dog as you'll find! I am even a dog you can roll around & wrestle with on the living room floor without any worries...plus I’d love it! I just adore people so much, and have never nipped or even growled...ever!

As for my flaws...I had a fenced yard previously, which would be ideal since my owner says I will take off immediately. I'm always one who wants to be where the action is, and because of my breed, I will go after any squirrel, rabbit....or bird I see running or flying by! So if you're looking for a buddy that you can trust off leash, that's not me. I have also on occasion been known to take newspapers from the floor and shake them in my mouth & rip them up to start a game :) I am however NOT afraid of storms, nor do I have any accidents when I get nervous or excited! I did live with 2 smaller dogs and was gentle with them, but certainly don't want any taking my chew bones away either. We were good friends & did like to play together & cuddle up for a nap too! If you think you can give me a home filled with love, exercise & entertainment, I could be your man! I'm just a super nice guy who my owners couldn't say enough about, but knew due to their age, it wasn't fair to me. Hopefully someone will fall in love with me...I'm just a big black puppy waiting to meet you!
