FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!!
**Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form**
We would love to welcome Lua into the Fetch + Releash family on September 30 (or sooner if we can find a flight parent)! In order to secure a spot on the flight, we need a committed adoptive family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until her new forever family can be found.
Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy, however, we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.
Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Lua / Female / 1 year old / 33.5 lbs / Boxer Mix / from Mexico
Lua's mother lived in a vacant lot with no roof or shelter. She gave birth to a litter of four puppies while tied up to the fence of the lot. Our wonderful partners in Mexico cut the chain she was tied to and took the mama and her puppies to safety. Lua is one of these puppies, rescued from a life of neglect and ready to find a loving home.
Lua has the sweetest face we've ever seen and is super expressive. This pocket-Boxer mix is incredibly affectionate and loves being around people, including kiddos. She is playful with both humans and other dogs and gets excited, often jumping with joy. She enjoys playing with toys, running around with her dog pals and exploring her surroundings.
Lua is medium energy and will need at least two walks a day and some canine enrichment. Her new family should be prepared to support her with basic training such as potty training, leash walking and general commands.
Lua is an adaptable gal and could do well in a home with a yard, or an apartment, so long as she is getting sufficient exercise. While Lua would do well as a second or third pup, we also think she'd be happy as a solo dog. It's important to note that Lua prefers not to share her food (same here) so if she were adopted into a home with other pets, it would be best to feed them separately.
Lua was briefly tested with cats and did well. She was also briefly tested with kids. We believe she can live with respectful children who understand doggie etiquette. Her new family should monitor all introductions to ensure safe interactions.
