Longmire has been in a new foster home since mid-June. This is what his new foster family had to say about him: Longmire is a stellar graduate of The Greyhound Inmate Experience. Although the program doesn’t exist anymore, Longmire was a fantastic student and was a favorite with the inmates. Longmire is an outgoing and very happy guy. He enjoys spending time with his humans…and very much enjoys meal times! He kicks up his heels when he knows it’s time to eat. One of the passions of this handsome guy is TOYS! He empties the toy box on the regular. The house is scattered with toys, but he will perform murder on the squishy ones, so a nice durable toy is best for him. Longmire is currently living with a cat and doesn’t mind her too much. Longmire likes walks, laying in the sun on the deck and birdwatching. Yes, birdwatching; he is curious about the little birds that visit the feeders. Longmire does have a medical issue (see more info in original bio below) that is brought on by some anxiety. He cannot empty his bladder completely, but so far he is doing very well in his foster home. He does wear a belly band while his foster family is at work and occasionally at bedtime. He would prefer a home with a shorter work day so he doesn’t have accidents. Longmire is on the lookout for a home that is relaxed, easy going and relatively quiet. Could this big hunk be the one for you?! (Original Bio) Longmire graduated from T.G.I.E. at the end of March 2023, and turned 5 in October. He is wonderful with his basic obedience, knows how to sit quickly, and walks greyt on-leash. A few months into foster care Longmire developed incontinence issues. After several vet visits with no results, Longmire was taken to Purdue University for testing. Longmire spent a couple of days there and it was discovered that his nervous system and sphincter muscles do not communicate correctly. We have been working with Purdue for a few months trying different medications to help our sweet guy. Longmire wears a belly band daily to help with accidents. He is a very good and patient guy when getting changed. Longmire is crated at night and will bark to be let out to take care of business. He does best when someone is around most of the time and is let out on a regular schedule. Longmire is a leaner and very affectionate, laying his head in your lap for ear scratches. He will be your shadow and follow you from room to room throughout the day. The biggest excitement for Longmire is mealtime; he gets SOOOOOO excited and likes to announce to everyone that it is time for some food! Sometimes that excitement may lead to loving nibbles from this sweet guy! Longmire currently lives with small dogs and foster greyhound siblings, where he gets along with everyone with no issues.
