Catahoulas were first bred in Louisiana in the 1850s for companion dogs and hunting and working. The breed needs alot of attention, can become destructive if bored as it is highly intelligent and demanding of you and your attention.
The catahoula is considered a rare breed. It is a loving, dedicated dog who will do everything to please its master but expects the same in return. I have one, I know. After a few months, you may think he can read your mind. My favorite breed.
