Lincoln came to ARC with another dog named Penny when they were found running lose outside Fort Knox. Both were in bad shape, so we teamed up with Forever Homes for Paws and they took in Penny and we kept Lincoln. It was clear that Lincoln had some trust issues, who could blame him? He was very thin and had a an 18 inch choke collar wrapped around his neck and under his armpit. He was apprehensive about putting on a collar or leash, being scanned for a microchip, etc. So, we fed him dinner, gave him a comfortable place to sleep and revisited his situation the next day. That's when we sedated him and cut off the chain, while he was sleepy, he got the works! Microchipped, heartworm tested, nail trim, and vaccinated! We got to the chain just in time, it was starting to imbed into his skin.
Free from the chain and on a regular meal schedule, Lincoln is feeling great! He was excited to put on a collar and leash, gives kisses, and shows off some of his skills! He knows "sit", "down", "paw" and probably lots of other things!
Lincoln would do great with an active family, he loves to explore and seems to like chasing balls! He is super food-motivated and is on board with learning new things, especially when food it involved! Lincoln did well in a crate, and appears to be house trained.
He still needs to be neutered, but is otherwise ready for adoption. His neuter surgery is scheduled for August 8th.
