My Story

Please contact Courtney Nobles ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.sweet mama ready for her own family!LILY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Lily Best Guess for Breed: Lab, retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of May 2024 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 50 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. Lily would be best in a home without cats. Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here. Check out these videos of Lily: https://youtube.com/shorts/r4XLXC4_qSw, https://youtu.be/qWmnxGTubMU, https://youtu.be/dfsPo9TiRNg, and https://youtu.be/F_Kbr0biKi4. Special Adoption Considerations: Lily is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left.Lily is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet girl came into the shelter with her 6-month-old puppy, Scarlette. The good thing is, she will never have to have another litter! She's eagerly seeking her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and world exploration (she hasn't seen nearly enough of it yet!). Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well but you know what she wants most of all? To be safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes - to make you laugh - to give you snuggles - and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is she the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
