My Story

Update: Lilly's lump has been tested and it is NOT cancer - it is merely a fatty, benign mass which would only have to be removed for cosmetic reasons. Lilly feels it gives her character, sort of like a beauty mark so it's going to stay. We believe her bloody nose was caused by a particularly vicious strain of kennel cough. Over the past few days Lilly's cough has been clearing up and there has not been any additional bloody mucous.

Urgent: Lilly needs your help! Already ill with kennel cough and a low-grade fever the day she was rescued from the shelter, Lilly began bleeding out her nose late Wednesday night. A small, hard lump was discovered on the end of Lilly's muzzle. Please see Lilly's Blog for more details!

Lilly's strengths: Happy, wiggly, religiously poops in the back corner of the yard, crate-trained, extremely cuddly, funny, goofy, sinfully adorable, shows belly easily, highly trainable, loves squeaky plush toys, eats like a horse, built like a brick you-know-what.

My story : Despite her last owner's best effort at killing her spirit, there is still quite a bit of puppy left in this one!

She can sleep in a crate all night without a peep, but she'd be so much happier in the bed with you. She won't chew up your house, but she still needs to be supervised or you might find a pillow casualty from time to time.

She loves peanut butter, cuddling, having her muzzle rubbed, laying her head on your lap, being held, her squeaky guitar toy, and did we mention cuddling?

Lilly get so wiggly in the morning that sometimes we think her back half is just going to break off. She has very little control of her hind legs and tail when afflicted with extreme bouts of happiness, and we half expect her too take flight if she keeps it up!

We are learning more about this precious pup every day and it has been exciting watching her blossom. We think she's as smart as a whip and will be a blast to train!

Just the other day Lilly played with her first toy - a plush and squeaky guitar. If you throw it for her she'll fetch it and then methodically prance around the house looking for the perfect spot to stash it for later use. We go and dig it out of her hiding place and throw it again and she looks at us like "What are you doing? I thought I just put this away!" and returns it to its proper place. This goes on for awhile until she decides the safest place for it is in her mouth, so she will keep it in her mouth as she travels from room to room or lays down to rest. And we can't even describe how cute she is carrying her toy around, but trust us, it will bring a smile to your face.

Lilly also learned how rockin' the couch is this week. From day one, Lilly seemed content to lie at our feet on her blankie or doggy bed and lean into our legs while watching South Park, but a few days ago she slowly and intently made her way onto the couch. Being the huge pushovers that we are, we didn't make her get down and now guess what? Well let's just say that furniture priveleges are a must for her new home!

Lilly might look serious in her photos, and who could blame her after what she's been through, but the goofball in this girl comes out a little more every single day. Super social and outgoing, you can't help but laugh when you are around her, her happiness and fun-loving personality are infectious. Add that to the fact that she's an absolutely gorgeous, muscle-bound little meat-head with a tiny yet tight physique and has the cutest pink features on her short little muzzle and you realize that she's impossibly beautiful both inside and out. You don't want to pass this one up!
