Dog's name: Liger (Lion+Tiger)
Sex: Neutered Male
Age and date of birth: 3 1/2 years, born 1-15-06
Weight: around 55 pounds - He's tall and lanky
Coat: Black and white rough coat
Liger has been with his family since he was a puppy and is much-loved. They are moving into an apartment, are not allowed to have a dog, and need a great forever home for him right away. His family just wants Liger to be loved.
Liger is a beautiful, young and active, but not hyper, neutered male, rough coat, purebred BC without papers but with a great personality. He has one blue eye and one brown eye. If he gets about an hour of good exercise, he's fairly quiet for a BC. He is very sweet and loves everyone, especially children. He, unfortunately, will greet a person by jumping and putting his front paws on a him, but he's careful, and he is responsive to being told not to jump. I watched him approach a little special needs boy with excitement today. When the little boy told him to stay down, Liger immediately obeyed.
Liger is well behaved, totally housebroken, and can be trusted loose in the house when left alone for long periods of time. He loves other dogs, but will chase cats unless he has been properly introduced to them. He also loves to chase squirrels, deer, motorcycles, bicycles, and delivery trucks if he has the opportunity to do so. However, he is so eager to please and responds well to a verbal reprimand. He has excellent recall, but should be kept in a fenced yard because of his desire to chase. Liger also barks at delivery men and the mailman with extreme enthusiasm. I guess I'd describe him as excitable, but controllable and very willing to be trained. He is very treat motivated and already sits, lies down, shakes hands, and falls over if you tell him, "Bang, bang." One of Liger's favorite games is to carry a toy while children chase him. Nothing makes Liger happier than just hanging out with his people.
I have not seen any compulsive behaviors or herding instincts in Liger. He likes to zig zag in front of you during walks, but that's about the extent of what I've seen of his herding. Liger tends to pull on his leash at the beginning of walks, but settles down. He is not bothered by thunder or loud noises.
Liger is UTD on his shots and tested negative for heartworms.
