Lexy, 5 yrs old, and a younger Great Pyrenees were surrendered to CAS by their owner. There was a divorce involved and not the best of care was provided for the dogs just prior to coming to the shelter. While the other gentle giant was immediately adoptable and was, Lexy needed to go into foster care. She was very thin at barely 80 lbs, and she was heartworm positive.
Lexy is a completely new lady now! She has completed heartworm treatment and is as strong as ever, she has gained a little over 20 lbs, and she was just spayed . . . so she is ready to find that new forever family!! While Lexy underwent her transformation, she was in a loving foster home that included an adult Newfie and a spaniel mix puppy. She fit right in with the dogs, and even got along with the cats! In fact, the entire family, both two and four legged, are really sad to see her go! :-(
They have asked us to report that Lexy is completely housebroken - she goes to the door when she needs to go out. She never chewed on anything, even when she was left to roam the house with the other dogs while her foster family was at work and school. She never got into anything she wasn't supposed to!
She loves to run outside in the yard (a fence is a must) and play with their spaniel mix puppy - so even though Lexy is already 5 yrs old, she still has some playful pup in her! Lexy also loves to ride in the car and go for walks, walking great on the leash.
How could you ask for anything more? All the training work has been done for you! Look at that third picture above . . . is it your face she is waiting to see walk through that shelter door? Are you the one that is going to take her home? She's waiting!!
