My Story

Leo A44205308Intake Type: (4/25) Seized Stray Dog Meet:Leonardo and Skyler -- https://youtu.be/UVdS0VzHMsoVideo:Leonardo Loves Getting Pets! -- https://youtu.be/VRGn5FG6qp4Medical Observation:(4/26) Vet Check -- Adult dog with mature cataract in left eye but definitely visual in right eye. Eyes get progressively more pink as gets excited, but no treatment required. Would benefit from ophthalmology work-up, but not urgent.Behavior Observation:(4/29) Removing from kennel was easier than day prior. Still jumped up when trying to leash but no leash biting. Pulls moderately through shelter and parking lot. In yard, does not jump on handler but still very energetic. Zooms around yard. Allows pets all over with loose body language. Pulls moderately back into shelter. Is easily returned to kennel and leash is easily removed.(4/28) Removed from kennel with difficulty. Leonardo was very amped up, jumping and snapping at leash. Once leashed, pulled strongly through shelter and parking lot. In yard, continually jumps up on handler but does not mouth. Momentarily distracted with treats but then returns to jumping on handler again. After two to three minutes, finally disengages and explores yard before returning to handler with less energy. Allows pets all over body with loose body language that quickly leads to arousal and Leonardo returns to jumping up on handler. Pulls strongly through parking lot and back into shelter. Easily placed back in kennel and leash is easily removed, Leonardo does not attempt to leash bite.(4/27) Removed Leonardo from kennel for dog meet. Aroused at front of kennel and difficult to leash due to bouncing off of door. Once leashed, bit leash once but was easily distracted by open door and exited. Performed walkalong with Skyler (video available). Returned to kennel. Handler again has to enter kennel first but Leonardo then enters and is easily unleashed.(4/27) Per Staff -- Leonardo is easily leashed and removed from kennel. Pulls slightly through shelter and parking lot. Immediately urinates and defecates so possibly housebroken. In yard, allows handling all over with loose body language. Plays tags and does become aroused after a few minutes, attempting to mount handler's leg, is easily redirected with treats. Shows no interest in toys. On exiting yard, accidentally meets member of public's dog and shows loose body language including a play bow. Will attempt dog meet later. Pulls slightly back into shelter. Handler must enter kennel first for Leonardo to follow but is then easily unleashed.(4/26) Per Vet Staff -- very excitable but friendly
