My Story

Meet Leon, our ultimate outdoor enthusiast who’s ready to bring joy to a loving home! This shaggy Schnauzer mix, about 1.5 years old, thrives in nature and is happiest when he’s exploring the yard or enjoying playtime. Leon (~30 lbs) is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative—he’s in top shape and ready for his next adventure. While he’s a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs and children, he does have a preference for women. We’re seeking a home where the primary caregivers are women, or a household with a patient man willing to work with Leon to build his trust. Leon is a master of fetch and has boundless energy, so he needs a home with another dog to keep him company and preferably an adopter who enjoys outdoor activities. Leon gets excited about parks and long walks, and doggy daycare is a big hit with him! Fully house trained and having mastered the "sit" command, Leon is eager to continue learning and improving, especially with leash manners. With some patience and guidance, he’ll become a fantastic companion. If you’re ready to offer a loving home where Leon can thrive with a patient touch and enjoy lots of outdoor fun, he’s the perfect addition to your family! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Benefactor Adoption Fee Scale: Benefactor Puppies under 12 months - $550 Benefactor Dogs over 12 months - $450 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
