Meet Leo- our precious Redbone Coonhound mix. Leo was brought into our rescue months ago when he turned up at the high kill shelter that we rescue from, shot in the leg. He has since been returned by the family who adopted him.
This boy has had a remarkable journey- he has been treated for heartworm, his leg has healed (he will always have a limp), and he has learned that people are not as scary as he once believed.
Leo is located in a foster home in CT and this is what his foster Mom has to say about him:
"WOW! Leon is quite possibly the easiest...or laziest... dog I've ever met. He is perfectly content to lay on his couch and hang. He loves to go for walks and actually grins when we go for a jog (with his ears flapping ridiculously in the wind) and he LOVES car rides. He is very well behaved on the leash. No pulling at all. He even stops at every street corner.
He is a little shy at first but has warmed up to everyone he's met. It does take a little longer with men before he shows interest but so far he has eventually liked everyone. He met my neighbors little boy who he instantly liked and the cat at the same time and there were no issues at all. Even though the cat climbed through his crate, drank his water and sniffed his food. They both spent the night on his couch."
Leon will need a family who will continue to show him that there is no reason to be afraid - we have complete faith that he will absolutely flourish in the right home.

Leon's donation is $400 which includes his transport to the New England area along with his vet care to date including neuter, vaccinations and HW treatment.
Paws New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.
