Leo is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states.
This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Meet Leo, an active bundle of joy with a wagging tail that never stops and a heart full of love! This affectionate little guy is on a quest to find his forever home after his previous owner found themselves with too many furry friends to care for. He likes meeting new people of all shapes and sizes, as well as dogs larger than himself and can be very vocal during greetings. He loves playing roughly with other robust dogs, and quickly matches their play style with some consistent guidance. Large groups of new dogs can be overwhelming for him, but he quickly makes friends after meeting one or two at a time. He is currently in foster with a cat and has been respectful.
Leo is a smart dude who is house trained. He is food motivated and loves training. Leo has an active mind and body, and his home needs to plan for plenty of daily stimulation, exercise and enrichment but he is happy to relax on the couch after all of this has been accomplished. He is currently using a crate at night and has been left for up to three hours in the crate during the day and does well as long as his daily exercise needs are met. He will bark in the crate initially if he cannot see the other dogs in the home.
He has completed three rounds of Good Pup virtual training. He is now focusing on leash skills as he can become overexcited and bark at other dogs on leash.
If you're searching for a loyal companion who will shower you with love and companionship, look no further than Leo. With his enthusiasm for life and heart of gold, he's ready to fill your home with happiness and tail wags galore. Don't miss out on the opportunity to make Leo a cherished member of your family today!
Medical Note: This dog has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption and shows no bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.
Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see
HERE
for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
