Lena arrived at NYCACC - The New York City Animal Care Centers- The city's municipal shelter as a stray in October . She was very fearful so listed as "rescue only". A amazing woman stepped up to save her life. LENA'S STATS: Approximate age 2 Years old Approximate weight 55 Pounds Breed (s) Border Collie / Pit Mix Spayed or neutered? Yes Lena is an active, smart, sweet, high energy, young dog. She has recently completed training at Rise & Shine K9 in Edgartown, MA. She would prefer a home with another dog. She would do well with someone who works from home or is not away all day. She also could go to work with someone, she likes to work on puzzles & active toys when inside. Lena shares well and loves to play with other dogs. Interesting quirks/behaviors: Lena loves the beach, loves to chase the ball, but doesn’t always bring it back. She loves to run. She loves peanut butte & squeaky balls & is easy to train. Lena currently does best meeting people slowly. She doesn’t like crowds. She needs to continue to work on her leash walking skills, as she seems to have little experience with leashes. Like many dogs she’s scared of fireworks. Lena is a sweet, striking, and loveable goof. She wants someone who will love her unconditionally. She has the best house manners of any dog we’ve encountered. She does not chew up anything she’s not supposed to. She goes willingly into her crate with the toss of a treat. She stays in whatever space you tell her to, without gates. She had a rough time as a stray in the shelter, but has come out the other side, affectionate, funny and very loveable. She is very smart, learns quickly, and knows many commands. She takes a treat very gently. She is going to make a great addition to her future forever home.
