Lemon was surrendered at just two days old by an inexperienced breeder who brought him into an emergency clinic as a failure to thrive. Upon examination, we discovered he had a cleft affecting his soft and hard palate. Despite his medical challenges, Lemon is a sweet, goofy, prosocial, vocal, and hilarious boy! He is now 4.5 months old and ready for the next step in his journey. We are looking for either an experienced adopter or someone open to a pup who will need some additional support and potentially another oral surgery along the way. While Lemon does have some limitations and will need ongoing medical support, he is able to live a full, happy, and largely normal life. His cleft is just part of his dazzling charm! Lemon is a grade-A extrovert who is determined to befriend every person, dog, plant, or butterfly who crosses his path. He is an avid hiker and is at his happiest playing in the grass or joining his person on an adventure. He would do best in an active, enriching, and loving household that is ready to let this boy shine. Lemon will very likely need ongoing medical management and specialized care and we are looking for an adopter who understands the emotional and financial commitment that requires. -- Lemon is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and will be neutered when he is a bit older.
