My Story

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Lela's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Meet Lela - a sweet Black Lab/Pointer mix gal who was found as a stray with her sister Lena in Mississippi. Lela is currently 13 months old and 55 pounds. This poor girl had heart worm when she came into rescue and just finished her treatment and is now ready to find her forever family! The foster mom for Lena and Lea had shared "These two girls are just so beautiful! Inside and out! They are outgoing, playful, and such loving girls! They love all the dogs here and really enjoying running around with them outside, playing with the other pups, chasing leaves, and just having fun. But they they are excellent at coming inside to snuggle up on their dog beds for a nice long snooze. These girls adore meeting people - especially when those people are children. We would love for them to have kids to run around and play with. They just get so happy being around kids! Anyone who gives them extra love and back scratches is atomically their best friends. They know some basic commands, doing great in their crate and on a leash, and have completely mastered going to the bathroom outside. Lela is going to bring her future family so much happiness and love!" These pictures are a few months old and we will be updating them as soon as possible. All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Lela, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] ** PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
