My Story

Laylo is a sweet, 33 lb. little lady! She was initially very timid and skiddish when she first came out of the kennel, and we had to pause every so often for her to get the courage to walk on the leash. Out in the yard, she was still fairly nervous of her surroundings. Once we went inside and into the Volunteer Office to avoid the heat, she started warming up to us with treats. She took her time sniffing around and would occasionally approach us with curiosity. After we offered her plenty of treats, she started gaining more confidence and even enjoyed getting pet. After some time, we got to watch her blossom! She didn't seem to know how to play with toys first, but eventually she learned just how fun tug-of-war can be and even brought the toy back for us to play with her. She started snuggling her head in our laps and enjoyed our attention. With a patient home, we truly think Laylo can become her true self! Here's what a volunteer told us about Laylo: "Laylo is such a gentle girl who loves sharing affection. She was quiet and calm in her kennel and let me easily put a leash on her. "She was excited about going outside and pulled on her leash to the yard. She explored the yard to find the perfect place to do her No. 2. "She ran around the yard and chased toys when I threw them. She would even bat the toys around with her paws. "When I sat down, she would stand next to me and be still while I petted her. When I sat in the yard, she stood next to me to be petted. "She got excited when another dog walked out, running along the fence with her tail wagging. She would run back to me and then run back to the fence. "When we left, she didn't pull on her leash, even when we walked past the other dog. While walking inside, she ignored the barking dogs and went right back to her kennel. Laylo is so calm and gentle and loved being petted. She showed her playful side in the yard and is ready to meet her new family."
