The first thing that strikes you when meeting Lane in person is his face...those intense amber eyes and that gorgeous coat and proud stance. But then when you pet him and nuzzle him close, it is surprising to feel such soft fur! He is in pristine condition with a clean coat and vibrant eyes. His gentlemanly manners are impressive - he is crate and house trained and walks cooperatively on a leash/harness.
Lane is a 3 yr old American Foxhound mix, who would love a home with a big backyard to play in, or lots of acreage to explore. Lane has that affable hound nature, curiosity, and energy. But he settles down and enjoys "quiet time" too. He loves treats, but eats them one at a time, and takes them very gently from your hand. He has yet to meet any cats while at the shelter, but he already has lots of doggie pals.
One of our wonderful volunteers takes Lane out for "doggie day out" adventures, and he loves meeting new people, including children and dogs. He loves car rides and receives lots of compliments from his new friends. Lane spreads joy wherever he goes! All this pretty boy is missing is a loving FOREVER home to call his own!!
If your home includes kitties, please let us know and we'll cat test him. All adoptions include up-to-date vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and a microchip.

To apply for adoption, please go to www.bit.ly/appHCAS and complete our online application. If your application is approved and you're a great fit for this pup, our volunteer team will reply with a phone call or text. We may also reach out about other dogs at our shelter that are similar and/or another wonderful option for you.
Note: Please submit an application through the link above. We need that actual application and not simply a Petfinder inquiry.
The dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi. We conduct virtual meet and greets for out-of-town applicants and offer transport to many neighboring and northeastern states. (If you want to come meet the dog at the Hancock County Animal Shelter in Kiln, MS the adoption fee is $75 and if you would like the dog transported to New Orleans the fee is $125.)
