My Story

Thank you I have a home !!

This is Lance

Also know as Chance, Mr Man, Big Guy, Lancey, Huggy Bear.

Lance is a great 2 year old German Pinscher …. We do not have his papers for a small dog he is a whopping 27 pounds. His family received him as a gift and they were told he was a miniature pinscher, I believe he is a German Pinscher, he is very true to the breed standard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Pinscher Perfect health outstanding disposition and really amazing and well loved guy, neutered vaccinated and housetrained.

He is a total lap dog as soon as you sit down he is in your lap, Lance loves to sleep under the covers, he walks perfect on leash, knows all his commands and more sit, stay, down, paw, up. He is a little acrobat he bounces and jumps quite the little entertainer. Lance is a wonderful dog, he loves to run to play fetch and romp around the yard so ideally we would love to see him with access to a secure fenced yard. He is used to a doggie door but has been fostered without one and does fine. Lance is crate trained. Lance …named for Lance Armstrong is FAST and he loves to be given the opportunity to do a couple of laps in the yard. He enjoys pretending he is super-dog when chasing after the ball he has a whole host of acrobatic tricks he uses. When Lance was trained by a professional the trainer felt he would really excel at agility as he is quick and agile and really enjoys “working” with you.

The one drawback with Lance is if he gets off leash he is a runner, if you open the door and let him out …he is gone. His inquisitive mind MUST see what is in the neighborhood. This can be very dangerous. Lance will never be a dog allowed off leash.

Lance was displaced when his family needed to move to an apartment where he could not go. He grew up with a boxer and is being fostered with kids and dogs. Lance is not great with cats, he stands over them until he gets them to run ….then of course what is a guy to do but CHASE ??? He will not hurt them but it would not be fair to your cats to become Lance’s squeak toys …so let’s say no cats or only cats that really want to be tormented.

So this wonderful dog is looking for a forever family …. Ideally we would like a family with or without other FRIENDLY dogs, no cats , a fenced yard and in a home where he will not be alone all day, with people that will indulge his LOVE OF LAP and under the cover sleeping. That is our ideal ideal … if you think your home is right even if it is not all we are hoping for please complete the required application and we will call you as soon as we can !! If you have all of the above and think you can love this guy forever hurry hurry don’t make him wait !! Thank you !!

The Adoption Facts:

1.       You must be 21 years or older to adopt

2.       We DO NOT place pets more than 100 miles out of NYC

3.       An adoption application is required (link below)

4.       There is a pre-screening process for potential home placement,

including a phone interview and the initial application. (This benefits you, our foster

homes and the pet.) This is all done BEFORE you meet the pet.

5.       Be advised that we do respond to each and every completed  application within

a 14 day period. Please be patient we know you are anxious to adopt

there are only so many hours in a day. We are trying our best. At this time we are

unable to respond to emails with questions (will he fit my home? Is he available? I have xyz will he like it here?)

We recommend completing an application after which we will be able to answer ALL your questions.

Go to http://www.northstarplacement.petfinder.com for more information on the adoption guidelines.

Do not send e-mail inquires concerning availability, if you see a pet listed at the web site, then the pet is definitely available.
