Lady

Lady is an American Foxhound (yes, Hound, please look up the breed.) She is estimated to be five years old, spayed, shots up to date. I am doing more traveling and need to find a home filled with love for Lady. She is extremely friendly, barking at a new person only because she wants to meet them, good with kids and other dogs. Although she is standoffish and not playful with dogs until she is good and ready. She has not lived with cats, and I would be concerned that she would not be good with them as she fixates on them when on walks. Reptiles are fine. Birds would probably be fine also as she ignores them on walks. Rabbits are a no-no due to her breed. She is pretty much the ideal dog. Absolutely Housebroken, knows lots of commands and learns quickly, walks great on the leash with a prong collar because she is strong. She sleeps all day on the couch until someone is ready to pet her. Her only drawbacks are 1. the kennel – she will stay in one even though she really doesn’t like it – but she stresses the whole time (except at night). The reason she must be in the kennel when you are not around is 2. she is a food thief and will get into the garbage and anything left out such as wrappers and sandwich bags. 3. she wants to ride in the car but doesn’t actually like it. I have never left her alone inside the car without using a kennel in the back. 4. she has an obsessive brain and will eat an entire bag of food if you let her, so her food has to be portioned. Even her water has to be portioned throughout the day because she will drink so much she will throw it up. She would do great with a family that has someone home most of the time during the day. She likes to go on leash walks once or twice a day. (Hounds cannot be off leash as they will run off.) She will bay(bark) if left outside during the day. She loves to be outside with you though! She will come with her raised food stand and what would be left of her Costco Salmon and Sweet Potato food. You will need a kennel 33x26x22. She has no interest in toys unless they have treats inside them, but won’t touch it while in the kennel waiting for you to come home. I will go over her commands with you.
