Special Adoption Considerations: Lacey is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! She's firmly closed that chapter and is eager to get her new one. The one where she gets her own humans. Where she gets to go on long sniffy walks in the neighborhood, meeting new pup and people pals - and explore the rest of the world! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish lost as well, and she wouldn't refuse to try puppacinos and other tasty treats either. You know what, though? She's way out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. That's right at the top of her wish list. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. At 70 pounds, that's a pretty huggable snuggle buddy and a solid presence by your side. How about it?
