My Story

Please contact Nancy Anderson ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.sweet boy ISO fresh start and love!KRATOS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Kratos and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (July 27th) from 12-2 pm at the Big Bad Woof in DC (6960 Maple St NW, Washington, DC 20012)! Name: Kratos Best Guess for Breed: Terrier/Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of May 2024 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 44.4 lbs Gets Along With: Kratos does well with other dogs. We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing Kratos in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living at: DC area foster homeFollow Kratos on Instagram: instagram.com/yourbuddykratos. Special adoption considerations: Kratos is from a hoarding/cruelty situation, and was very shy at rescue. He needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. To feel safe, get lots of love, quality kibble, LOTS of treats, a cushy dog bed, and a warm lap too! Kratos was rescued from a hoarding/cruelty case and landed in a massive south Texas shelter that routinely has 1200-1500 animals in their care; his chances of being adopted in that area are, well, low to nil. He is eager to get his own humans - ones who get that he might need extra support during his adjustment and give him all the love and patience he needs. And ones who take him for sniffy walks and all those adventures he's been missing out on - he's in his prime and has lost time to make up for! And what do his humans they get in return? An incredibly sweet and loving dog with an enormous stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship to offer the humans in his new chapter. What do you say? Will you help him write it? What My Foster Says About Me: Kratos is starting to come out of his shell in his foster home after coming from a very difficult living situation. We're giving him the time and patience he needs to decompress and work on his confidence and fears! He loves other dogs and enjoys his neighborhood walks with our resident dogs. He likes to find a safe place to sleep and relax and likes to observe his surroundings. He's starting to establish trust with his foster parents and learning how to explore the world! He's a fan of frozen peanut butter or egg on a lick mat and hopes his forever family spoils him with the same treats!! He is still nervous around new people (who can blame him!!) but he is starting to show some interest and excitement in these moments -- slowly learning the joy that can come with being a dog! Even though he's still shy, it's important to remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is a testament to his incredible resilience. He is going to be a wonderful addition to his forever family. All he needs is patience, love, understanding, and lots and lots of treats (he says this is required)!
