Kramer has run the gamut and has come through well. After being noticed by a rescue worker in a kill shelter in Preston, Utah, Kramer (then named Preston) didn’t have much time. Saved in the nick of time, Kramer was sent to live in Southern California for several months where he tested heartworm positive and an ACL injury was detected. Here, his foster parents helped him get back on his feet and then through the ACL surgery. The surgery left him with little activity for eight long weeks. Even so, Kramer is left with some arthritic changes and whereas his leg is better, it will never be 100%. Nonetheless, it never made Kramer give up. He romps and plays with the resident lab and absolutely loves to be with his foster mom and dad. Because we know little of how Kramer was treated before he ended up in the kill shelter we can make the assumption it wasn’t very well. He’s been in several foster homes and has weathered the stress and confusion of moving quite well, although it is hard for him to automatically trust new people. Who can blame him? But if you have had experience with Chessies and understand their protective ways, you might be the perfect master for Kramer. Kramer really needs a strong person to not only show him the trust he needs to be a good dog, but to be able to love with his very generous heart. Kramer deserves a special place of his own with a master who can not only care for his special needs but be able to look into his eyes and see the love and dedication within.
