My Story: As stated below, Kojak will require a PHYSICAL FENCE in his new home. Kojak is waiting for a wonderful, forever family to provide him with daily walks, car rides, a big bed, and lots of exciting activity. To be honest, we are not really sure what Kojak is except that he is some kind of a large bulldog; he is between 85-90 pounds. He has a shiny thick coat that resembles a labrador's, he is very large like an American Bulldog or Olde English Bulldogge (many are black and white as well), and he has the big jowls that come with being a bulldog. He has a big and bulky head, but don't let looks intimidate you! This is a dog who is a big baby and loves everyone. He really appreciates the companionship of another dog so having a friendly female canine in his new house would be perfect for him. He was labeled as a pit bull terrier type/mix at the shelter, but b/c of his size and looks, it's very unlikely. Kojak is totally housebroken, is excellent in the car, loves all people, and could be placed with another dog of opposite sex. He has been tested with cats a couple times and doesn't seem to have a drive to get to them (he actually retreated when he was almost batted for getting too close and cried when a kitten hissed at him). He is crate-trained and sometimes has free reign of the house in his foster home (there are no other dogs). He has a very extensive collection of toys to keep him busy but also likes the Yellow Pages phone book! Paper products are now out of reach. He has a tendency to lounge on the couch when no one is home and loves to have a place near the window where he can keep an eye on things throughout the day. He does know what pieces of furniture he is allowed on and which others he is not. He is pretty quiet and quite a big baby with people. He is very large, but does not have the "bull in the china shop" presence in the house. He prances like he is large and in charge, but is very responsive and well mannered. He is working on his leash skills. He uses a Gentle Leader head halter on outings, as he gets excited when seeing other dogs or people coming his way on walks- he thinks everyone is all about him. He is a bit spoiled, too....he sleeps on the bed with his foster mom, has blankets and belongings all his own spread throughout the house, gets frequent outings and visitors to the home, and is a total indoor dog. He does require a fenced in yard for his playtime. He is a welcoming committee to everyone. He makes all kinds of non-big dog sounds- grunts like a pig at times, and has a little whine when he's pouty. This dog is a blast and as lovable as you could ever dream. Kojak is a treasure...... |
