9 September 2009Unfortunately Miss Kitty has returned to rescue due to the personal situation of her owner. She needs a dental and as soon as that is accomplished, she is ready to make a family her own.
Update! 18 April 2008ADOPTED 4/20/09!
Miss Kitty has made an amazing transformation. What can i say best about Miss Kitty.....hmmm....SHE is NOT a morning person! She loves her bedtime and she loves to sleep and she loves to sleep in. She can bury herself under just about anything and protest quite loudly when you pry her out for her morning potty time. I can understand her wanting to sleep, because she is a very busy girl, who rarely stops and would be quite content to play play play play play all day. She is lightening fast, agile, quick, sharp, and extremely smart. We joke that we would hate to see how much trouble she could get into if she had 4 fully functional legs because she gets into enough trouble with
3 good ones and 1 sorta good one!
With Physio....she has regained about 80% usage of her leg. She still needs some massage work, and some extension work at home to keep the leg supple, but each day she uses it a little more. Having another dog to play with definitely helps her usage of this leg. She can play tug-0-war with the best of them. I have seen her roll my 16 inch 14lb IG male on his back and take toys away from him. She is fearless, and seems to know now boundaries when it comes to play. IF one dog tires out she finds another. She will take a toy and stick it in another dogs face, DARING it to try and take the toy from her. Miss Kitty plays LOUD and she plays hard. I have seen her take some pretty rough tumbles in the foray with the other dogs and come out WITH the toy, and race like a rocket across the yard, far ahead of any other dog in hot pursuit.
This little firecracker is ready for a new home, and she needs a home that will continue to watch her leg and do minimal work to maintain its growing strength. Another dog to play with would be perfect, but due to her small stature, i still think a home with NO children and NO larger dogs would be best, as she simply does not realize she has limitations....oh...warm bed where SHE has the largest portion of, and cappuccino in the AM please.>/BR>
27 Nov 2007 - Introducing Kitty!
Miss Kitty was a little dog lost and found when she came into rescue on Nov 2. She has a long very complicated story, which happily for her ended up with her being safe in rescue and a foster home. Miss
Kitty is just under 2 years of age, spayed, and current on her shots. However, Miss Kitty had 2, not so well done, surgeries done on her left rear leg, for Leggs Perthes disease. She has a nasty scar, and her femur is actually displaced by an inch. She was, as you can see by her photos, painfully thin, and she is a very fussy eater, so getting weight on her has been a struggle. She still is not gaining as much weight as we would like, but she has put on a little bit. We know she is uncomfortable, and her leg does hurt her.
Miss Kitty requires extensive physio just to see if the leg can be saved and become functional. IF not, then she will have to have it amputated. Donations made to IGCA rescue in Miss Kitty's name would be very appreciated to help with her upcoming vet costs.
If you are interested in this or any other dog being fostered by IGCA Rescue - Colorado, please contact our state Rescue Coordinator (Vivian -
