My Story

Indigo Rescue will be at the Beaverton PetSmart (Walker Rd. at Cedar Hills Blvd) on Saturday, September 19th. Kingston will be there from noon to 4 p.m.

Meet Kingston!

Kingston is a beautiful Golden / Labrador Retriever mix. He's only about 8 months old. Kingston is a very happy boy and has a wonderful, friendly temperament. Kingston will mature into a wonderful companion if given the right leadership and training.

Kingston is a boisterous pup and is the perfect example of what happens when you don't spend enough time with or train your puppy. He jumps on people, doesn't have manners, pulls every which way on leash and barks a lot. People let their cute little eight week old puppy jump up and be an all around nut, never teach him better and then suddenly they have a 50 pound, strong eight month old to wrestle so they take him to the pound. Typical story. But Kingston is not a bad dog, he just doesn't know what to do! He needs a patient person or family, preferably someone with some training experience, who can handle a strong pup and teach him how to be a well mannered canine member of the family. With positive training and socialization, calm, but firm leadership, Kingston can be the absolute best dog in the world. Of course he's a retriever, so he'll need lots of exercise.

Kingston is not YET ideal for a home with children because he's jumpy and will knock over the children.

Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.

All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Click Here for our Calendar of Events. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail via the e-mail link at the bottom of the page ("Email Indigo Rescue") with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.

Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)

Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?

What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)

What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?

Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?

Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?

Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)

Do you own or rent your home?

What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)

Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?

Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!
