My Story

Please contact Mamie Hall ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.sweet, sweet small girl ISO fresh start and love! KILIMANJARO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Kilimanjaro Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age: 7 years as of July 2024 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 13.2 lbs (while heavily pregnant) Gets Along With: Kilimanjaro does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog! We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living at: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area after her puppies are weaned! Special adoption considerations: Because Kilimanjaro is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. You may also notice one of her eyes looks a little off. She has a cataract in that eye; her adopter may want to consult with their veterinarian about that. See this sweet mama enjoy some pets while nursing her puppies in this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX_lZiDfdWA Kilimanjaro is Looking For: The life she should always have had. This small sweetie was seized as part of a hoarding case. She was heavily pregnant at rescue and had her puppies in the shelter. She has been an amazing mama to Hedgehog. Hippo, and Honey Badger, and they're all off to get their own homes now. At seven years of age, having babies is hard but she will never have to have another litter. t's now her turn to get all the love and affection and care she's been lavishing upon them. She may be a little older but small dogs live quite a while - and she wants to enjoy all the years she has ahead! Right now, she is understandably shy of the bigger world- dogs from hoarding situations often don't get all the socialization they need, and Kilimanjaro will benefit from having a welcoming resident dog who shows her what a well-loved dog's life really should be like. One where she gets long walks, give toys and treats and a cushy pillow, and gets totally spoiled. In exchange, her humans will get an incredibly loving and appreciative little pup who wants nothing more than to be with her family. What do you say? Is she the companion you have been seeking? Will you be her soft landing?
