FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! **Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form** We would love to welcome Kika into the Fetch + Releash family on September 30 (or sooner if we can find a flight parent)! In order to secure a spot on the flight, we need a committed adoptive family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until her new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy, however, we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kika / Female / 2 years old / 40 lbs / Mixed Breed / from Mexico Kika is a sweet sweet girl who actually rescued herself. After a life of abuse and neglect, she snuck into a volunteer's house in Mexico through an open door. She was incredibly scared and was covered in open wounds. She had a wire tangled around her neck and was in really bad condition. Given her past, Kika can be a bit shy and slow to warm up. But once she gets to know and trust you, she becomes a very affectionate pup. She will follow you around, wagging her tail in delight. She loves interacting with people as well as playing with other dogs. Kika’s favourite activities include cuddling sessions, playing with her toys and eating all of the treats. Kika is medium energy and will need at least two walks a day and some canine enrichment. Her new family should be prepared to support her with basic training such as potty training, leash walking and general commands. Kika is an adaptable gal and could do well in a home with a yard, or an apartment, so long as she is getting sufficient exercise. While Kika would do well as a second or third pup, we also think she'd be happy as a solo dog. It's important to note that Kika prefers not to share her food with humans or dogs (same here) so if she were adopted into a home with other pets, it would be best to feed them separately. Kika was briefly tested with cats and did well. She was also briefly tested with kids. We believe she can live with respectful children who understand doggie etiquette. She has been known to jump up when excited so a home with really young kids may not be the right fit. Her new family should monitor all introductions to ensure safe interactions. If you're interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Kika's adoption fee is $850.
