We are looking for a foster home or forever home for K.I.
K.I. was surrendered to us December 2017 after a year of watching him live on a short chain that he was constantly tangled up on. We met K.I. through our Dog House Project...we were going door to door in a rural area offering dog houses and spay/neuter services to dogs in need and on chains in a rural area and he was in the road dragging a big chain...we stopped and got right in the van with us and immediately started giving us kisses...He had us at hello...The owner wouldn't let us have him, but we visited him often and took supplies and checked on him and continued to offer to take him if they would surrender him to us. Persistence and patience paid off...it took a year...but they finally surrendered him to us. He is the sweetest most affectionate dog you will ever meet. He loves to go for rides. He was great with all their grandchildren and when they would come visit you would see them walking him. We were told that he had started out as a house dog when their son first got him...probably as a puppy, but when the son had to move back home, he could not be inside and because he would not stay put...they put him on the chain. We think he had been on this chain for at least 2 to 3 years. He is kennel trained and we think his approx age is 4 years old and he weighs 69 lbs as of Dec 2017. He is a very strong boy and needs an owner that can handle his strength. All he wants to do is cuddle and get attention. You can see his heart break when he can't get to someone to be petted. He is enthusiastic and can be energetic, but settles down very quickly and is calm and laid back and just wants to sit with you as long as you will pet him. We just got him and will post more details as we get to know them. We haven't had him long enough to know much about how he is with other dogs. We do know that he had been loose alot with strays in his area and was ok when we saw him out with them, but since he was living a solitary life on a chain we want to really check this out. Currently he has met 2 female dogs his size and did fine. He is heartworm positive and we have started him on the slow kill method of doxy and advantage multi, but will treat him with the fast kill method in few months after he has settled into foster and been on doxy long enough. We have pics of his life before and how he lived...he doesn't even look like the same dog now ... he smiles and is happy all the time now that he is off that chain. Everyone at our vet loved him and everyone that meets him is just crazy about him. You will never meet a dog that has more affection to give than this one. He is looking for an owner that will be his very best friend forever...a companion to spend his life with. Please consider K.I. ... he needs you.
Adoption fee is $150 and includes ... spayed/neutered, microchipped, current vaccinations, and kennel trained.

MidSouth Animal Rescue League is an all breed, 501c3, non-profit organization that prefer to rescue senior dogs and special cases. WE LOVE ROTTWEILERS...With 20 years of experience with our beloved ROTTWEILER breed, and little help for this breed in our area, we try to focus on rescuing them and try not to ever have to turn any away that need us…especially the seniors that end up in shelters. Currently, we have several senior rottweilers in our hospice foster program. We always need more fosters so that we never have to say NO to them or other seniors.
We have also started a community relief effort specifically in the Red Banks, MS area not far from us, called The Dog House Project, where we go door to door providing dog houses to dogs on chains and other dogs and cats without proper shelter, including straw in cold temps, as well as food and other supplies as needed. We offer free spay/neuter services to those animals and continue to check on them all year. To date many have been spayed and neutered and some have been surrendered from their neglected lives on chains. We are making a difference and need your donations to continue this program. We always need igloo type dog houses.
MidSouth Animal Rescue League relies on the kindness, generosity, and financial support of people like you so that we can continue to rescue and care for dogs like this one. We are a group of dedicated volunteers who respond to animals in need in shelters, strays, and from individuals. We receive no federal or state funds and are supported solely by private donations.
Many of the animals we save are in need of special medical care or surgery to bring them back to health before they can be placed. Veterinary care, vaccinations, tests, x-rays, medications, spay and neutering, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, worming, food, kennels, grooming, and other supplies are provided for each dog while in our care.
