My Story

This is Kendra. Kendra, aka, Kennie, could be a mix of a Cane Corso, or a Lab mix. We just are not sure. She has a pretty great story though. Our neighbor, who lives in the hotel across the street from the shelter, was out for an early-morning walk in Youngwood. Out of nowhere, comes this big dog. He told her to go away, because he was a little afraid of her. Then she just followed him....for an hour! Occasionally, she would trot out ahead of him and then stop and wait until he caught up. The man walked back to the hotel and went up up to his room and told the dog to go away. She didn't. She scratched at the door and cried. So, he let her in and shared his breakfast of champions with her (Cheerios) and then went to take a nap, and the dog followed and jumped up to lay with him. Not knowing who this dog belonged to or what to do, he just wanted someone to help her. So, he brought her across the street to the shelter. Well, he didn't really "bring" her. He walked and she followed. No leash...she stopped and waited for him to cross the street, and then followed him right into the shelter and came into the office, wagging her tail and greeting me with a gentle paw. She acted as if she was with the right person. He couldn't keep her so I said I'd take her in and see what I could do to help her. We named her Kendra and she is the absolutely most precious dog, and loves everyone, even some dogs she has met. We do however think that Kendra would be best as the only pet in the home, because she likes all the attention for herself. She just wants to be with people. When she is with people, she is happy and content. She plays okay with some other dogs and has no reaction at all when other dogs bark or growl at her. She is wonderful. She is now spayed and available for adoption. Kendra rides great in the car and is not much of a barker. She would NOT make a great watch dog, because she greets everyone with a happy tail wag.. But her look could back someone down who didn't know her. Kendra should not be in a home with cats because she will go after them and we are just not sure what she would do if she caught them. We do know that she will upset furniture in order to get a closer look at the little furry creatures! Kendra would probably be an easy dog to housetrain if she isn't already ,she is pretty smart. She has been visiting a few foster homes, and didn't have any accidcents in the house. You couldn't want for a more beautiful and sweet dog, she is a great companion! All adoption fees include spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations.
