My Story

Kelvin (05-048) is a 9 year-old neutered male basset. He is tri-colored, and is healthy and housebroken. He'll make a wonderful addition to a family wanting a laid-back basset. Kelvin is 75 lbs. of love. It’s not clear whether Kelvin gets his name from his obvious previous intimacy with refrigerators (as in Kelvinator) or from his propensity to get to the absolute basic values of life (Kelvin is a distant third system for measuring temperature, after Fahrenheit and Centigrade) Zero degrees Kelvin is minus 460 degrees Farenheit, the temperature at which theoretically all molecular motion stops. In many ways Kelvin embodies this concept. Kelvin has yet to discuss these things with his foster dad, so he's just calling him Kelvin the Kelvinator, like Arnold the Governator. The great thing about Kelvin is that he walks without constant pulling on a leash. Kelvin and his foster dad started to walk around the block the first day, but didn’t get quite halfway around before they turned back. Then they walked all the way around the block (½ mile), and they now expect to build up a little more each day. Kelvin's foster dad says, "Kelvin & I each have about 15 lbs. to lose, but we’d each be happy to move in that direction separately".
