Katie

Katie is approx. 5 months old in these pictures taken June 30, 2007. She came into the shelter May 31. Katie was found running the neighborhood by the lady who brought her to us. She and her daughter would love to have kept Katie but they have other dogs already. Katie is very sweet and so wants to be with people. She loves to play with other dogs and we believe she would be great with cats and children. Although we have not tried her with them. Katie just has a gentle personality. We have found out that Katie enjoys playing with toys and will toss them around and chew on them.

Shelter volunteers noticed that Katie was limping and holding her right back leg up when we were taking her picture. She was taken to the vet, where the vet found that she had broken her tibia. Now in a cast for 3 - 4 weeks, Katie takes it all in stride. She hates being in a small kennel all by herself and her exercise restricted though.

June 30, 2007 - UPDATE:
Katie is doing very well on her leg and only has a slight limp. She will be going into the vet on June 9 to get spayed and have her injury checked. Katie will then be ready to go to her new home.

July 13, 2007 - UPDATE:
Katie went to the vet to be spayed. The vet said her leg is healing well but not as fast as it would if she had a cast on it. Katie will not keep a cast on and just chews it off. She also will not wear a c-collar. So we have her in a very small kennel and her exercise is being limited. The vet does not predict any problem with Katie's leg, however.

April 5, 2008 - UPDATE:
You would never know that Katie had an injury to her leg. She runs and plays like nothing every happened. Just a happy girl.
