History (how did you acquire dog?): Junie was rescued after we saw a video of her absolutely terrified and shaking while in one of the local shelters. We have never seen a puppy so horribly terrified. We were told that she was tortured by a man for allegedly nipping at him when he cornered her and then aggressively picked her up. After this alleged nip, the man threw Junie in a wire crate outside, exposed to the elements. He then locked the door, placed a homemade sign with the word “quarantine” on the crate and “threw away the key”. Junie sat for days in that crate in the scorching sun without food and water, in her own excrements, until she was rescued by Animal Control. We have now had Junie for two months and despite her initial fears of humans, she has never ever attempted to bite or nip anyone. She would rather run away when she is scared. She has never shown any level of aggression toward anyone - human or dogs.
Other important info: Junie is a young puppy who has already been through a lot. She came into the care of her foster parents very afraid of contact with all people and did not want to be touched or close to any humans. She does however, love to play with other dogs. Currently she goes weekly to dog daycare and is rapidly improving her social skills as well as her trust of humans. She has began approaching her fosters frequently allowing them to pet her and rub her all over. Junie is a very spunky and active puppy who is learning what it truly means to be loved and trust humans. She continues to progress daily, becoming bolder and more trusting every time. She absolutely loves to be with other dogs, preferring those her size but not afraid to play with larger sizes either. As she realizes she is safe, she will be a fantastic addition to a home with a patient and active family, allowing her to grow and trust even more with those that love her.
