My Story

This 17 week old cutie is growing like a weed and overcoming what was a fairly rough start. He came into the rescue from another rescue who found him emaciated and running in a cow pasture covered in cow plop and with sores all over his body. He has gained weight steadily with good consistent groceries and all of the sores on his body have healed and grown and covered with hair. He looks like he has gotten 3 colors darker and his hair is now dark and shiny. At 17 weeks he has weighed in at 28 pounds and is a growing boy for sure. He is currently eating 3 smaller meals a day as he had the tendency to get hiccups if he over ate. He is very food and treat motivated. He has learned how to use a bedside chair and curls up next to his foster mom every evening to sleep. He is doing fantastic on the housebreaking. When he gets up in the a.m. we go straight outside where he is more than happy to potty. He actually likes to eat his breakfast outside and then we walk around some more until he is ready for his solid potty and another pee and then we come right back inside. We just follow the routine of going pout after each nap or prolonged play inside and all seems to be going great. He is a puppy and still needs several offerings to go outside during the day to prevent accidents. We have been using the bells on the door and he definitely gets using them (and sometimes abusing them) when he wants to go out for a while. His foster has several danes and he by far has been one of the easiest pups. He is very smart and eager to please. He does like to play with other dogs. He likes to track things like squirrels, rabbits, etc. and will chase them if they run but in a very playful way and isn't aggressive with them at all.
