Josie

Josie is an approximate 5-year-old, female, possible Lab/Cattle Dog mix. She weighs 45 lbs. and is medium sized. Josie found herself being surrendered by her owner here in Iowa along with several other dogs in their care. She had fleas covering her body and has suffered some hair loss due to having fleas for so long. We quickly treated her and she is on the mend with good nutrition and preventatives. Josie is a sweetheart and is all about people! She loves spending time with people and is very friendly. She is calm and gentle for the most part but does like to jump up on you when she is excited. She has been responding well to the training in her foster home to keep her feet on the floor. Josie has been with a 6-year-old and 9-year-old kids and has done very well. She loves to snuggle with kids and be petted. Josie does well with other dogs but can get a bit jealous if she has to share her attention with her people by trying to nudge the other dog way or inserting herself in between with her size or larger dogs.. She had been a bit dominant with another smaller dog when competing for a lap but she did not resorted to fighting. She would do well with another dog but will also make a good single pet. She is in a foster home with a cat and has not shown much interest and is able to be close to her without issues. Josie does pretty well on a leash and loves to run with her friends in a fenced in yard. While she does do well on a leash she would love a fenced in yard to romp around in and have freedom to run in her adoptive home.
