My Story

JERRY Handsome Jerry was found abandoned and hungry - and we soon learned in lots of pain. A good Samaritan witnessed Jerry being dumped at a water tower in western Illinois. Soon animal control was contacted and Jerry was picked up and taken to the local animal shelter. Our frequent site watchers know that Doberman Pinschers do not kennel well and often realize a high level of stress in shelter situations. Jerry was a typical, stressed Dober-guy and unfortunately the Animal Control staff interpreted his behavior as aggression. Fortunately they contacted Illinois Doberman Rescue and we quickly claimed Jerry and brought him into his foster home. The first thing we discovered was he had 4 abscessed teeth! An immediate visit to our amazing Dober-doctor was scheduled and Jerry, 4 teeth short, is feeling a whole lot better! We believe Jerry is somewhere around 8 years old, we aren't exactly sure of his age. We are, however, sure that he loves the 8 year old junior volunteer he is living with and is about the gentlest dog currently in our program. He loves everyone he meets, and doesn't care if they have 2 legs or 4! Jerry was treated for Heartworm and is now ready for his new home. Jerry is great with all the other dogs in the home and loves to play. He would be best in a family with no small kids. Contact Lillian and Paul Santschi 815-652-3790 (Dixon) or email [email protected] for more information about Jerry. Jerry sends a loving Dober-kiss to Lara Trapp Krolczyk and family for donating his collar and leash from the Dober Duds program.
