10/21/08 A few more things about Jeffrey! He loves the rain and mud puddles. He just loves water. Playing with and chewing on ice cubes is also entertaining for him. He loves to pounce on insects and chase them. He also seems to want to chase birds and squirrels. He wanted to play "tuggy" with his leash sometimes so it usually worked best to take a small stuffed toy on the walk to replace it with the leash in his mouth and I would say "Jeffrey's toy." He really likes packing stuffed animals around and playing tug of war.
He loves balls bounced in the air and cloth Frisbees. His favorite gave though is to have someone or another dog chase him around.
The last 3 weeks we did not crate him at night and we did not have any problems with accidents in the house. Everyone had to be in bed though before he would settle down.
10/18/08 Jeffrey has made it north and is doing really well in his foster home. He is creat trained and well mannered and seems to like all the other dogs in his foster home- he really wants to bind with one with person- he has come so far in trusting people- cam you please give him a forever home so he can finally realize not all people are mistreat dogs?
10/10/08 Jeffery is in foster care in Arkansas right now but his foster mom needs him to leave int he next week as they are going away. Here is what she says about Jeffery..."Jeffrey did a phenomenal job at dog obedience class this week. Jeffrey was comfortable with his surroundings and did not seem to let anything bother him. He learned to go from the "sit" position to the "down" position in less than 5 minutes. He makes training a dog seem so easy. He is not the same unfocused dog I walked in with just a week ago and the dog trainer was thrilled to see all his positive changes. We believe Jeffrey to be potty trained as he goes down the stairs to indicate when he needs to go out. We have not crated him at night for over a week and he has done great with no accidents. He does not wander at night. He settles in and goes to sleep. He has gone to my parents' house twice and interacted very well with my parents' Schnauzer and the neighbor dogs. My parents' Schnauzer thinks he has to "beat up" all visiting dogs so we were very slow to introduce Jeffrey as we were not sure how Jeffrey would react to such abusive behavior from another dog. He did great. Jeffrey just wanted to get away from the crazy dog. He has also gone to my aunt's home twice and played with her female pit bull mix that she rescued earlier in the summer. They played very well together as they both like to play rough. Jeffrey is doing very well at coming when called. In the beginning he just ran from me, but he no longer does this. He is walking very well on the leash and is so much better when passing other people while walking. He loves water and will flop down in a mud puddle or splash through it. He also went into the lake at my parents' house, but was too afraid to swim. One of his favorite things though is to chase flying and hopping insects. He pounces on grasshoppers and eats them. He loves to chase butterflies and dragonflies as well. It is so very cute. I don't think I can speak enough about all the progress he has made in the last couple of weeks. " Would you please consider fostering Jeffery here in New Egland so he doesn't have to go back to a high kill shleter where his days will be numbered? 8/31/08: No one has reclaimed precious Jeffrey. Could someone please get him out of the shelter temporarily where he can receive the love and attention he deserves? He waits patiently for a guardian angel... 8/23/08: Jeffrey was found by a good samaritan at a campground. He is a very gentle natured young boy (probably less than 1 1/2 -2 years old). Jeffrey has a very short tail (not sure if it is naturally that way...). He truly is a love and deserves a wonderful home. All our dogs are at partner shelters in the South unless marked "In New England" or "In Maine".
