My Story

Forget-Me-Nots are small, sometimes missed, flowers that symbolize true love, loyalty, and remembrance. At the Maryland SPCA, we classify a pet as a Forget-Me-Not to highlight an animal that may have some extra considerations for potential adopters to be aware of. Even though this pet may need a little extra TLC in order to fully bloom, we know they are still a strong candidate for adoption and they're sure to bring true love and loyalty into their new family. We hope you'll remember these beautiful creatures when you consider adopting. Meet Jeffrey, affectionately known as Jeff or Jeffy by those closest to him. This high-energy canine dynamo is a bundle of joy, always ready for a game of fetch or a romp in the backyard. Jeffrey has grown up alongside a child, but his exuberance means he might accidentally topple over smaller kids, so a home without young children would suit him best. However, his upbringing with a feline friend demonstrates his adaptability and understanding of other animals' cues, making him a great companion for a household with cats, though introductions to new feline friends should be gradual due to his prey drive toward outdoor cats. House-trained and eager to explore, Jeffrey thrives on outdoor adventures like hiking and playing in the great outdoors. While he hasn't had the opportunity to live with other dogs, his early experiences at dog parks revealed his preference for gentler interactions. Though thunder, vacuums, and car rides make him nervous, Jeffrey's heartwarming affection and desire for attention shine through, tempered only by his occasional excitement, easily redirected with a simple cue and a tasty treat.
