Jaya Jaya is an amazing survivor. He was likely hit by a car. Then, found hiding in the bushes of a drive thru, people took a picture and posted it to social media instead of stopping to help. It took hours for a rescuer to find him and save him. Once he was safe, he was taken to the shelter for care and treatment. X-rays showed a broken leg and pelvis. Due to the grave extent of his injuries, he had only 48 hours to be pulled from the shelter of he would be euthanized. Boxers and Buddies pulled out all the stops: We found transport to a local airport, a pilot that would volunteer to fly him to Truckee, another volunteer that would drive to Truckee to bring him to Reno, yet ANOTHER volunteer that would foster him and get him to Animal Emergency Center to be seen and evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. Within 5 days of being found, Jaya was the recipient of a $6,000 surgery that would help him once again be able to walk. He has a long recovery ahead of him, but this happy warrior is ready to tackle the world. Jaya’s follow up treatments and physical therapy will be covered by the rescue. He would love to find a home of his own where he can recover and grow. As he ages, he may have arthritis and a limp, but the surgeon doesn’t expect any further complications.
