2/28/06 - Jasper has finished his heartworm treatment. He had a series of three shots. One shot and then two shots a month later, heartworm treatment is a long and risky treatment. At this point he is doing great. He has one more follow up visit with the vet at the end of March. After that he will be ready for his new home.
Meet little Jasper, he is shih tzu/peke baby boy. Jasper has recently had eye surgery, removing one eye and is in need of heartworm treatment. He has one eye remaining and has limited vision, this is stable but will require close monitoring. We had his eye checked by a Eye Specialist in Birmingham, AL. All vet records will be released to his new home.
This baby was found in a very rural area as a stray. His eye bulging and punctured(eye that was removed). His ?good? eye has an old puncture/injury that has healed, based on the condition with no treatment. This baby also has HEARTWORMS.
We are addressing his eyes first, due to the sever pain involved with eye injuries and then heartworm treatment. We currently have him on two eye meds and ivermectin for heartworms; this will prevent new heartworms for developing until we can do the heartworm treatment.
Our funds have been exhausted over the past few months on Liver Shunt Surgery ($1,800), Two Eye Surgeries ($800) plus the extended care of our special needs and senior babies.
