Jason is a very handsome young German Shepherd Dog. His Golden eyes and mid length Black and Cream coat make Jason a gorgeous GSD! The hair on the end of his full tail almost touches the ground when he is standing still and his tall ears are set high on his head.
By the look of his all white teeth, Jason is under 2 years of age. We will know more on Monday when Jason goes for is medical work up.
This young German Shepherd Dog male had been hanging around near the home of a man in an upper SC county for several weeks. The day the man took this GSD to the local shelter, two Canine Shelter Rescue gals "happened" to be there for a rescue pick up. So, this beautiful boy did not even go inside the shelter door....Instead he took another ride, this time to freedom.
Jason enjoyed his ride to a new beginning and once in the safety of a fenced yard, he enjoyed playing with the other dogs rescued, both large and small.
Jason is thin and is enjoying knowing that there are regular meals of good food to eat and a supply of fresh water to drink. He ate his first meal greedily with out any interest in interacting. Next meal, Jason ate more slowly and allowed me to hand feed him part of his food. (Hand feeding is an exceptional bonding tool.)
He enjoys running and playing in the safety of the fenced yard. When Jason walks and runs his gait is so beautiful I just want to stop my chores and watch the beauty of him moving. His foster dad describes it as looking almost like a dance step. ( I will be soon be posting pictures of Jason in motion.)
Jason is comfortable in the house and is also crate trained. I can tell him to "Go crate" and in he goes.
Jason like any good GSDs wants to be inside with his people and he follows me through the house. He enjoys the company of his foster siblings.
Jason is very intelligent and watches attentively. He also has a strong desire to please. He has learned not to jump up on mom and is learning to walk with out pulling when on lead. He knows how to "Come" and "Sit". We are working on the "Down" command. Jason would enjoy at least a "basic obedience" class with his person in his new family.
Jason enjoys being petted and rubbed and he leans into mom just to be a little closer then plops down for a belly rub. Jason has a submissive spirit with people yet he also enjoys hardy games with his foster siblings. Jason is a gentle boy who is confident within himself and ready to "shepherd" his person of family.
Jason will make an exceptional companion for his new person. He is young and strong and seems to have a sturdy body. Monday Jason will be neutered, heartworm tested and have his Rabies vaccination. If Jason is heartworm negative, he will be ready for adoption.
Jason will only be adopted as a valued inside family member. Please only apply to adopt Jason if you have had experience with the GSD and love this exceptional breed.
