My Story

Hi, my name is Janis ! I'm from Arkansas. From her foster: Janis may be small, but she is mighty! She can hold her own when her brother is picking on her and she is so curious to play with other dogs, regardless of their size. She is a HUGE cuddler, so sweet, and so gentle. She is happiest curled up next to a person or with another dog. She especially loves laying in someone's lap. Her puppy bites are minimal but so very gentle when they are present. She is just starting to discover toys and seems to really enjoy them. She can be vocal when she is separated from her people. While she's a bit noisy with that, we find that she tends to calm down after a few minutes. She voluntarily goes into her kennel for naps and bedtime. While she is currently sleeping in an open kennel at night with a small gated area around it, I assure you, she would be so happy to sleep in bed with someone. We have bells hanging on our back door for our resident dogs to ring when they have to go potty. Janis is starting to get the hang of this and ringing it, but as of right now it's mostly for the purpose of going outside because she loves sitting and lying out in the sun. We're working on potty training but there are still accidents inside. A fenced yard or balcony would be great for Janis since she loves being outside when it's warm. She is not a fan of cooler weather but hopefully as she gets bigger and isn't as skinny, she won't mind the cold as much! Janis would do best in a home people who are often around that she can be close to or one that has another dog that will allow her to be close and cuddle. Janis would not do well in a home where she is home alone often. She likes to have her eye on a person or cuddled up next to another dog. She is not an independent dog. A fenced in yard or balcony would be ideal since she LOVES sitting outside when it's warm
