My Story

UPDATE: December 5th, 2009. Jake is now spending his days with a young family in Squamish. Congratulations to you all!!!

A lovely German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP)/Hound cross in need of a dog savvy home. Jake has a good set of lungs on him and has been rather vocal at the shelter he is in.

Jake was picked up straying in Vancouver and unfortunately his owner who is homeless never claimed him. Jake appears to get along well with most other dogs and is VERY willing to learn. Because Jake is kennel stressed it is imparative we find him a foster home ASAP. Jake will need a "detached" home with a secure yard to ensure his baying at the world will not be an issue, however, we doubt Jake will be as vocal once he is out of the shelter. Living in an animal control shelter can be very stressful on some dogs and many resort to barking because the other dogs are barking.

Jake is a young adult, neutered male, GSP and his bark sounds very hound like. He has some wear-marks on his nose which indicate he was either muzzled or walked regularly with a Halti or Gentle Leader (head halter).

We are looking for foster care for Jake for up to 3 to 8 weeks (over xmas). We are not sure how Jake is with young kids or small pets at this time. Jake will most likely need reminders of his house manners as many previously sheltered dogs do.
