Jake is an athletic and intelligent dog looking for an active family to call his own. He loves the outdoor lifestyle, and would be great as a second dog also. Jake loves to run, hike and play and go for walks on leash. He is fine to be off leash while on hiking trails and will stay right with you on verbal command. He loves his animal friends and running around. Jake is extremely nice and friendly he loves everyone! He gets along with both cats AND dogs, and even children (over the age of 5).
Jake is very lucky to be in a foster home right now. He lives with 3 other dogs and several cats. In his foster home, he lives with three other dogs and several cats. He has barked at strangers (both human and other animals) from the yard - it can be loud so it may scare someone at first but for him it is just saying hello.
Jake lives indoors with his foster family. He sleeps on a dog bed, but loves to be outside and uses dog door frequently. He is completely house-trained (thats good for only 7 months old!). He is still a puppy though, and loves to chew. With proper chew toys and bones he can be entertained at length. This will be an on going training - for example, if he is left for several hours, he may pull a shoe off the rack and take it outside. He is such a great dog with a gentle demeanor and fun loving personality.
Jakes foster family would like to inform you that they have had about 30 dogs come through their home. They feel that Jake has been one of the top 3 dogs they have ever fostered and got to know. Now that is special!
Jake is about 7 months old (4.1.2008). He will be a fairly large dog when fully grown, probably 90-100 pounds. Big dog lovers contact us! He is possibly a Black Labrador Retriever/Pointer/Great Dane mix of some sort but that is just a guess!
