My Story

Jak is a beautiful American Foxhound pup found wandering the neighborhood with his two sisters...probably dumped off and left to fend for themselves. They were brought to the shelter at age 4-5 months are are still under 1 year of age as of Jan., 2010. It is obvious they have been abused and/or neglected or had little human contact because they allow people to pet them, but want to become invisible at social contact and are very shy. Jak has a sweet & gentle nature. He has a beautiful tri-colored coat typical of the Foxhound with a white underbelly. He enjoys running and playing in our fenced area with certain other dogs we have. This breed is good with kids & other pets and is ideal for family & companionship. They love country life and the outdoors. Jak just needs love & reassurance that most people do not mean harm. With love & security he can become an excellent pet & devoted family member. The noisy and chaotic shelter is a scary environment for an extremely shy dog like Jak and he will often hide in his dog house or under his cot all day. He needs a quiet household with someone who could devote time and love to socialize him. Please consider fostering or adopting Jak today to help him with his special needs of being socialized. If you foster, we provide, food and medical expenses. we do not have enough staff, volunteers or foster homes to rehabilitate him or give him the one on one attention he needs to assimilate into a normal household. Black dogs and cats, hounds, and pit bulls are the least adopted shelter and pound animals. Do something great today and rescue a hound!
