Jackson is a wonderful 4 year old neutered male possible lab-shepherd mix. He is mostly tan, with some white, and black markings, and he weighs around 60 to 65 lbs. Jackson has had a VERY rough start in life, but, thanks to the folks at Second Chance Rescue, we are helping to ensure he has a very happy ending! Jackson has been living on the streets for almost a year, and was being watched over by two neighbors who made sure he had food, water, and so on. Initially, Jackson kept his distance from anyone, but, thanks to the persistent efforts of the kind people looking out for him, he eventually came around, and learned to trust people again. As they were concerned about Jackson spending another winter outside, and because they knew he needed some veterinary attention (he had severe fly strike on his ears -- this is where flies bite incessantly at the edges of the ears causing sores), they recently contacted Second Chance to see if we might be able to help out. We met Jackson, and thought he was a very special dog, indeed, and deserved a chance at a wonderful life. We just placed Jackson in a foster home, had him neutered, and have his ears well on the way to a full recovery! Although he can still be a little shy, Jackson has amazed all of us with his transition to home life! His foster describes him as a joy to have around -- he is quiet, well behaved, does well with her cats, is housebroken and crate trained, and is most appreciative of finally being able to be inside!! Jackson knows what it is like to have a hard life, and we therefore think that makes him all the more thankful to have people to look out for him, and a place to call home. He will make someone a super companion! Jackson is up to date on all vaccinations, has been heartworm tested and is on prevention, and has been microchipped. Update on Jackson 9/23/06: Jackson is doing incredibly well in his foster home. He is the most easy going, gentle dog you could ever imagine, and he is absolutely blossoming. Jackson is a wonderful, wonderful dog, and we hope someone special will realize what a great companion he could be! If you are interested in Meeting Jackson, please contact Sue at
